If you like movies, you know that Oscar night is upon us.
Here at Rolling Hills, we have our own awards to make ... The Wesleys!
This award is not named for Rolling Hills' own, Wes Newcomer. No, this award is named in honor of the founders of Methodism, John and Charles Wesley. These two brothers loved their Bible, and so do we. So, over the next few weeks in Sunday school, we're going to hand out awards in various categories for our favorite passages from the Good Book.
On Sunday, March 4 we will start by naming the winner in the category of Best Psalm. During this week, please post a comment to nominate your favorite Psalm. Briefly tell us why it's meaningful to you. In Sunday school on the 4th, our judges (aka our youth) will read the nominated Psalms, consider them, and vote on the winner of the very first Wesley award. The award winner in the category of Best Psalm (and the category for the following week's Wesley award) will be announced after Sunday school on this blog.
So read your Psalms, pick a fav, and tell us about it!
I nominate Psalm 136.
ReplyDeletePsalm 121
ReplyDeleteGreat pick! I would have nominated it if someone else hadn't:
Delete"I lift up my eyes to the hills -- from where will my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth." Ps. 121:1-2
Ok, since Angela stole Psalm 121, I nominate Psalm 40. Why? Check out this video of U2 singing Psalm 40 in concert in Chicago:
